FIRST-TIMERS: Are you a crafter who's always thought about doing a craft fair but just hasn't gotten around to it yet? We at The Craftique can walk you through it! Glenn and Jan
Valkenburg
Glenn hand turns beautiful pens, and Jan creates stunning jewelry. They have participated in many a Craftique Fair and have always been show-stoppers!
Glenn recently launched a fantastic website, www.valkenpens.com. On the site, he describes how he started his business, “A while back I bought a small lathe to start pen making (or pen turning as it is rightly known) strictly as a hobby. As my skills progressed, so did my appreciation for an excellent writing instrument. When I used my pens in public, people commented. Most often I heard the same thing ‘nice pen!’ they would say as they attempted to put it in their pocket without me noticing. In self defense, I almost HAD to start selling them.”
Glenn’s pens are made from exquisite woods like ebony and redwood burl, and unique materials like corian, antler and snake skin! He has a pen for everyone and has begun to create products perfect for specialized interests and professions – check out his 50 cal machine gun shell pen or the pink acrylic pen with swarovski crystals.
Glenn’s wife Jan, creates beautiful jewelry of precious and semi precious stones! She has jewelry fit for all occasions, funky bracelets perfect for a graduation gift or sophisticated necklaces fit for a night on the town.
